How was the 10x Medical Devices Group Conference?
5 min reading time

10x attendees and guests of the cocktail hour, what did you think of the inaugural 10x conference? Was it worth your time and resources? Would you go again next year?

Your candid feedback welcome and appreciated.

I’m happy to see most on this string have already taken advantage of the early bird discounts for our next event (May 12-14) at [http://MedicalDeviceEvents.com|leo://plh/http%3A*3*3MedicalDeviceEvents%2Ecom/8a2J?_t=tracking_disc].

If you haven’t yet, prices go up again soon. If you register at today’s rate at [http://medgroup.biz/About-10x|leo://plh/http%3A*3*3medgroup%2Ebiz*3About-10x/Fkju?_t=tracking_disc], you can cancel until February 28 and I’ll return it all to you. That’s a risk-free way to save hundreds of dollars… and to capture the expense in 2013 if you have some “use it or lose it” dollars in the budget.

See you in May!

Thanks, Andrew, yes … to me, the 10x event is really about connecting with Medical Devices Group members in person … which videos and transcripts can’t do.

The guests were too good not to share with everyone. I’m adding the talks to [http://MedicalDevicesGroup.net/blog|leo://plh/http%3A*3*3MedicalDevicesGroup%2Enet*3blog/imrc?_t=tracking_disc] at the rate of roughly one per week.

I was sorry not be able to attend the conference, but I have enjoyed reading/watching the content on the group website. Thank you for making that available! As you know, most conferences don’t do that, so, usually, if you can’t break away on that particular weekend, you miss out on all of the content!

Congrats on a great conference — I hope to attend next year.

Joe, the conference was well thought out and implemented flawlessly. A great opportunity to meet people with a vast experience and expertise in the medical devices industry. Joe, your personal outreach to the participants during the conference was particularly commendable!

I feel that the design and implementation of the conference was outstanding. The speakers had very relevant expertise that was useful for the audience. I learned a great deal from the speakers and other attendees. From the quality of Joe’s facilitation and leadership of this event, the breadth of topics from political to technical, and the great conversations I had with participants, including the reception, I honestly think this is one of the best conferences I have attended in the thirty-two years I have been attending professional conferences.

The conference provided a great forum for people to meet and network with medical device professionals with common interests, questions, and needs. So glad I had the opportunity to be there. And we hit the weather just right between the 2 cold fronts! Joe, great job facilitating the event.

I’m coming back. Section after section offered high-level discourse, intelligent insights, thoughtful queries from the audience and, well, first-rate granola and yogurt. Thanks for putting it all together, Joe, and congratulations for a well-done couple of days.

Stephanie, a trip in from Hong Kong is quite the endorsement! Looking forward to meeting you in person.

Will definitely plan to attend next year Joe! Great feedback from those who attended this year.

It was a terrific conference, Joe. I’m glad I was able to attend.

It was rewarding to shake the hands of people met in the virtual world (i.e., LinkedIN.)

There were some really smart people on-hand, and thought-provoking dialog. I’m looking forward to future meetings, to seeing how the meeting evolves, and to seeing what the larger influence of the conference might be.

Thank you, Agostini. I will be sharing information at [http://MedicalDevicesGroup.net/blog|leo://plh/http%3A*3*3MedicalDevicesGroup%2Enet*3blog/imrc?_t=tracking_disc].

You can see the first interview, with the Senator and Congressman, there now. I will add others soon.

Dear Joe Hage, for me it was impossible to assist this time. Is there any possibility to get the disertations? I thank you in advance! Helga

Joe, Congratulations on putting together what sounds like the event of the year for the Medical Device Industry! Truly happy for you. All the best, Andrea

Joe, I have previously commented but would add the following.
Just some feedback. This past week I was involved in a discussion concerning a regulatory procedure/process. It was a stalemate, no one knew the correct way to determine what the FDA had in this particular requirement. I contacted Rob Packard. His answer clarified the actions that would be needed to take. Everyone is now clear and on the correct path.

If it wasn’t for the 10X meeting and meeting Rob, I’m not sure where we would have gone to. This is how networking is done. I’ve been reading the feedback that has been coming through and it sounds like you had a winner.

Sounds like I missed out. Hope I’ll be able to make it next year.

Thanks, Peter.

Oh, I don’t like the “no photos and videos” part. As much as some members would like to come to our annual retreat, I recognize some simply can’t fly in from the furthest reaches of the earth.

So capturing the content, making videos, sharing content is part of our value proposition. I do, however, feel as though most participants felt the comfort to “speak [as] freely as they wish[ed].”

The Gordon Research conferences are private conferences where people can speak freely as they wish, nothing that is said constitutes a public disclosure. No one is allowed to report what was said, photo’s and video are prohibited except for the conference photo of attendees. They are designed to create interaction amongst people to enable collaborations and advance the technology or science at hand. They are by invite only as they are awesome to attend and are oversubscribed.

Looking at their current list of conferences, I do not see anything related to medical devices. Not surprising given that these conferences focus toward the academic disciplines.

Glad to welcome you, Peter, and thanks. I hadn’t heard of the Gordon Research Conference. Will explore.

I did not attend this year, but I am planning to attend next year based on the comments here. It sounds a lot like a Gordon Research Conference. Joe, you might want to look at the structure of their their conferences and incorporate some of those ideas into next years conferences.

Margie Flagg
Owner, Market Research, PRN
I’ll echo Terence Maytin’s comment. An excellent conference in terms of all the usual measurable attributes, but it was the attendees who made it special. It was so refreshing to interact with a group of bright, entrepreneurial people who were also warm, welcoming and ready to share. I’ll be back.
